Student Writing Assistance

What is it?

The student academic center’s writing specialists assist students with essay writing, project writing, creative writing, research writing and business writing. The writing specialists work with students at any stage of the writing process, assisting with brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and sound boarding.  

How does it work?

During a tutoring session, students have up to one hour of undivided attention from a writing specialist. Writing specialists are trained to listen or look for gaps in ideas, problems in organization, grammatical errors, and elements of style. This process assists with addressing the questions and needs students might have during the consultation. Additionally, writing specialists evaluate writing holistically and provide feedback.

The Student Academic Center houses computers equipped with the latest versions of major word processing and Internet software for students to utilize for writing and researching papers. Additionally, the writing center conducts writing workshops throughout each semester.
