Testing Accommodations

The types of testing accommodations available to students with disabilities are listed below.

Testing Accommodations
Testing accommodations include, but are not limited to: a reader, scribe, enlarged text, extended time, and quiet testing environment.  All accommodations are assigned on an individual basis when documentation is presented.  All exams are to be proctored.

Students that qualify for testing accommodations will receive an Exam Proctoring Information form to give their instructors when approved by the C.L.A.S.S. office for testing accommodations at the beginning of the term or as soon as the accommodation is approved. Only those accommodations authorized by the C.L.A.S.S. office and stipulated in the accommodation letter provided to the instructor are permissible. The Proctoring Exam form, completed by the instructor, documents who will administer the testing accommodations. The completed form must be submitted to the C.L.A.S.S. office at least seven (7) days prior to the first exam.

Instructors are welcome to administer/proctor exams within their own structured setting, according to the accommodations as delineated by the C.L.A.S.S. office. Exams may also be administered and proctored by the C.L.A.S.S. office. Should the instructor elect for the student to test with the C.L.A.S.S. office, due to limited testing space, it may not be possible for the student to take the exam on the specified testing date. C.L.A.S.S. will make every effort to administer the exam as close to the actual test date as possible. The C.L.A.S.S. office must receive an Exam Scheduling form with a copy of the test and answer form, submitted in a sealed envelope at least one week prior to the test date. There is an ample supply of Exam Scheduling forms in the C.L.A.S.S. office.

The student is responsible for taking the test at the previously designated time.  If the student misses the test, the student must reschedule the test upon approval from the instructor.  A new Exam Scheduling form will need to be completed.  If the student misses the test due to their disability, the student must provide documentation relating to the absence to the C.L.A.S.S. and the administrator will consult with the professor to reschedule the test.

In some cases, testing accommodations will be provided by a C.L.A.S.S. proctor for students enrolled in evening and weekend C.L.A.S.S.es who are unable to test during day time hours.

If a scheduling conflict occurs, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the C.L.A.S.S. office to make alternate arrangements prior to the scheduled test.
