In addition, the Heritage Center plays an active role in helping to support and promote the development of culturally-based clubs at the college, and, in addition, offers these clubs a welcoming home base where they can gather and conduct their business.
K-12 Outreach
Nevada State College is committed to engaging in early outreach to students in K-12. Currently, the college is conducting outreach to high schools throughout the valley to help make the transition from high school to college smoother and more successful. This is especially important for first generation students, whose parents did not complete a higher education degree. Dual credit programs at Eldorado, Basic and Las Vegas high schools are currently underway that give high school students early, supported and successful exposure to college and prepare them academically for their studies beyond high school.
Affirmative Action
Nevada State College complies with federal and state regulations related to affirmative action and equal opportunity. This office helps to promote equal opportunity for persons from legally protected classes who seek employment and admission at Nevada State College.
Conflict Resolution Office
The Conflict Resolution Office provides a vital service to the college community by supporting students, faculty and staff to help resolve college-related conflict with positive outcomes. Dr. Karen Heller is the college’s Conflict Resolution officer and assists in matters regarding student judicial affairs.
Community Outreach
Effective and positive relations with the richly diverse communities that comprise Nevada are essential for the college to effectively realize its Heritage value. Nevada State College actively engages in partnerships with community organizations to improve access to college. Nevada State College also enjoys partnerships with various organizations that provide scholarships for students of all backgrounds and cultures. Currently, NSC offers matching scholarships through various community groups, including 100 Black Men, Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce, Urban Chamber of Commerce and other groups. All students are welcome to apply for these scholarships.
