About OIT - Objectives
The overall objective of OIT is to provide a technological infrastructure of resources necessary to support NSC’s mission of quality teaching and service. Our vision is to create a computing support organization that is recognized for technical skills and an ability to partner with customers to create and deliver high-quality computing services appropriate to the mission of the campus. These services are delivered through a computing infrastructure that is comprehensive, up-to-date, responsive, reliable, available, and intuitive. Specific objectives include:
- Campus Network – To engineer, expand, improve, manage, and operate the campus computer network and connections to the Internet ensuring that all campus computers are connected to the network and functioning at an appropriate speed.
- Campus Servers – To provide, maintain, and operate on a 24 hour per day basis servers that deliver core computing services to campus and off-campus constituents. Campus servers are essential to the proper interconnection and functioning of desktop computers and to the delivery of all computing services.
- Communication Services – To provide effective telecommunications, campus mail, copying, and video conferencing services to improve communications amongst the campus population.
- Desktop Computing – To provide and/or assist with the selection, installation, maintenance, and operation of computer hardware and software for faculty and staff desktops as well as the campus computer labs and smart classrooms.
- User Support – To provide computing support (helpdesk, user assistance, training, and consulting) for core computing services to all faculty, staff, and students.
Nevada State College is a partner of System Computing Services and NevadaNet. All employee and student use of technology is governed by NSHE policy.
