Disbursement of Financial Aid

Federal & State Financial Assistance

All federal and state assistance will pay to eligible students beginning the week before classes begin for the semester.  Before any funds can be paid to a student’s fee account the student must be properly enrolled for the credits in which they accepted aid to pay and must meet all Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirements.

Students who experience a change in enrollment (the number of courses registered), residency, or change their address need to notify NSC Student Financial Services to insure proper disbursement of funds.  Changes in the above can delay the payment of financial assistance.

Outside Agency Scholarship Assistance

Many students receive scholarships from private and community organizations. Agencies are encouraged to send checks to Nevada State College by August 1st for the fall semester and January 1st for the spring semester for disbursement to the student’s fee account.  Scholarship checks should be made payable to the Board of Regents and mailed to:

NSC Student Financial Services
Attn: Financial Aid Director
1125 Nevada State Drive
Henderson, NV 89002

The following information should be included with the check:

NOTE:  Concurrent enrollment at another institution is not considered in the credit requirement.  Therefore, the agency must indicate if credits at another college, such as UNLV, CCSN or WNCC can be included in the total credit requirement.

Actual Payment of Financial Assistance

Students who have formally accepted financial assistance, including scholarships in excess of the amount of their student fee account balance will be mailed a residual check.  Checks will start to be mailed on the Friday before classes begin each semester by U.S. mail. Checks cannot be held for pick-up.  Residual checks will be generated every Friday for students who have had funds pay on or before the previous Wednesday.  Students can monitor account activity on-line by accessing their Student Accounts.

Students are advised to be responsible and plan their monthly budget around these disbursement processes if financial aid assists with paying living expenses while attending Nevada State College.  Students must make sure that their financial aid files are complete and funds are ready to pay as planned before each semester.  This will assist in proper budgeting of anticipated funds.
