A native of Oakland, California, Lance Bernard received his BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz, MA from San Jose State University, and PhD from the University of Nevada, Reno (all in History.) Since 1993, he has taught American history, humanities, and American Studies courses at Bowling Green State University, UNR, Everest College, the Art Institute Online, and Nevada State College. His chief academic interests include 20th-century American social, cultural, and urban history, as well as regionalism and urban geography. His first book, ARCHITECTURE AND REGIONAL IDENTITY IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, 1870-1970, was published in 2007 by Edwin Mellen Press. He currently resides in Reno and enjoys reading, bicycling, photography, writing, and rooting for the Oakland A's.
