Professor Villanueva joined Nevada State College English Department in 2007. She holds a B.S in secondary English education and a M.Ed with a concentration in curriculum and instruction in English and Language Arts from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Prior to her position at NSC, she gained experiences and insights in the K-12 education field. Her various positions with the Clark County School District range from curriculum writer, serving as a charter faculty member of a "Breaking Ranks II" secondary school with an emphasis on school reform, to a high school literature and composition teacher and student-enrichment program coordinator. In addition, she served as the core English instructor for an international college-prep program (AVID). Professor Villanueva's experiences have positioned her well to serve NSC composition students. She is scheduled to pursue her doctoral studies in literacy next year.
