Born and raised in Los Angeles, Daniel Grassian received a B.A./B.S. in English and Psychology from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, and an M.A., and Ph.D. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has taught writing and literature courses at Manhattan Community College, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Oklahoma State University, the University of Kansas, Temple University, and Shippensburg University. Dr. Grassian's research focuses on contemporary American literature and culture. He is the author of Hybrid Fictions: American Literature and Generation X (2003), Understanding Sherman Alexie (2005), and the forthcoming Writing the Future of Black America: Literature of the Hip Hop Generation (2009). He teaches a wide variety of courses at Nevada State College including English Composition, World Literature, African American Literature, and Literary Theory. He enjoys running, traveling, and although he has since abandoned his adolescent rock n' roll dreams, music.
