Teacher Preparation Program Admission
All students seeking a degree or certification will need to apply for admission to the Teacher Preparation before registering for initial 300 and 400 level education courses.
Applications for admission to the Teacher Preparation Program are accepted twice each year. All application materials must be received no later than the application deadline.

Admission Requirements
- General admission into Nevada State College. Students who have never attended Nevada State College or who have attended as a non-degree seeking student will need to apply for undergraduate admissions through the Office of Admissions and Orientation. Please note that the Office of Admissions and Orientation will need official transcripts from each institution attended.
- Met with a Nevada State College School of Education Academic Advisor. Students interested in scheduling an advising appointment can contact the School of Education at 702-992-2515.
- Have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or better.
- Submitted an official copy of passing scores on the reading, writing, and mathematics portions of the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST or Praxis I). For dates and to schedule an appointment, call Thomson Prometric at 1-800-583-6773. You may also contact the test center below to schedule your appointment.

- A resume.
- A 500-word typed essay entitled: “Why I Want to Become a Teacher.” The essay will be reviewed by 1-3 faculty members using an essay rubric.
- Clear Tuberculin (TB) Test. The TB test can be given by a primary physician or the Southern Nevada Health District.
- Clear FBI fingerprint check. A receipt issued by the Clark County School District or other school district is considered acceptable documentation.
Southern Nevada Students: Fingerprinting may only be done on assigned days. Students beginning Field Experiences must have prints taken at the next available date.
Northern Nevada Students: Students will need to contact their school district regarding their fingerprinting policy
