Graduation
The School of Education recommends that all students complete the graduation application two semesters prior to graduating. The intent of this is to assist students with deficiencies early enough to allow for changes in class scheduling. Graduation applications are available from the Office of the Registrar.In order to graduate with a bachelor’s degree, a student must:
- Complete a minimum of 128 credits of college course work.
- Meet all the requirements of the College core curriculum.
- Meet all the requirements of the School of Education.
- Have a minimum overall GPA of 2.0.
Teaching License
The teaching license is granted by the Nevada Department of Education. To receive the teaching license, you must obtain an application online from the Nevada Department of Education or from the following locations:Department of Education

Please note: The student is responsible for arranging and forwarding all required documentation (official transcripts, PPST scores, Praxis II scores, etc.). For more information contact your local Department of Education office.
Licensure Recommendations
The Teacher Preparation Program is responsible for recommending students for licensure to the Nevada Department of Education who have successfully completed all program requirements.It is required that students take and pass the appropriate Praxis II exam prior to the completion of their internship.
Elementary education majors are required to pass:- Elementary Education: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (passing score = 158)
- Elementary Education: Content Area Exercises (passing score = 135)
Secondary Education Majors Are Required To Pass:
- A subject specific pedagogy test for the teaching major or, if no specific pedagogy test is identified, the Principles of Teaching and Learning, 7-12.
- Content knowledge test(s) for the teaching major.
Teacher candidates should consult the list of exams for Nevada in the Praxis test booklet at www.ets.org.
The School of Education will not recommend any student to the Nevada Department of Education for a teaching license who has not successfully passed the Praxis II test and had their official scores sent to the Program.
