I. College Core (32 - 42 credits)

b. Study and Technology Skills (2 credits): CEP 121, CEP 122
c. Natural Sciences (6-8 credits): Students need to take two sciences courses, at least one of which should have an accompanying lab. An asterisk (*) indicates a laboratory course.

II. Additional College Requirements (6-20 credits)

a. Foreign Language – 3 options (0-14 credits)

Complete and/or transfer to NSC a fourth semester in a foreign language or American Sign Language (AM 148 or SPAN 212 or equivalent)
Demonstrate proficiency through a placement exam.
Show transcript evidence of successful completion of a fourth year high school course in foreign language.

b. Social Sciences (6 credits): Students interested in secondary education must take courses in ECON, GEOG, and PSC. One of these courses can count toward the core curriculum and the other two toward the Additional College Requirements.

III. Major Requirements (36 credits)

HIST 101, HIST 102, HIST 251, HIST 499 and 24 credits in additional history courses
At least eighteen credits must be at the 300-level or above. Courses must be approved by the history advisor. From these 24 credits, at least 9 must be selected from non-European and non-American courses, that is, from the fields of African, Asian, Middle Eastern, or Latin American history.

Secondary Education
Students interested in secondary education must:
1) choose one of the following courses among their history electives: HIST 433, HIST 320, HIST 418; and
2) take at least one course in each of the following disciplines: ECON, GEOG, and PSC (these courses may also count toward core curriculum and additional college requirements.)
