You may obtain your library card at either NSC library branch locations during normal business hours. You will need to provide a valid form of photo identification, your H-number (Student ID number), and your NSC email address.
Your first Library card is FREE. Replacement cards are $1.00 each, payable only by debit/credit cards.
**Library cards and NSC student ID cards are one in the same.
My library card is not working, what do I do?
Library cards expire at the end of each semester. If you are still enrolled at NSC please contact the library staff to update your library record/expiration date. (You will not receive a new photo ID with each renewal.)
**Remember: To use your NSC library card at UNLV or CSN libraries you must have a card that has not expired and an account in good standing. Check with us before you go! Return to top
What are the loan periods for books checked out from the library?
Books are checked out to students for three weeks with one renewal available.
What are Reserves and why are their fines so expensive?
The library houses several different types of resources on the reserves shelves (including: DVD, video equipment, books, etc.)
These materials are usually not owned by the library but are the property of NSC professors and staff.
In order to deter theft or tardiness of reserves items the fines on these materials are significantly higher than normal library fines. All reserves items must remain inside the library at all times. The fines are as follows:
$2.00 per item for every hour is it overdue.
From a computer with web access:
- Go to the NSC homepage
http://www.nsc.nevada.edu
- Go to “student account” under NSC Quick Links
- Follow the instructions and log into your student account. You will find your H-number at the top left of the page.
How do I find my NSC email address?
From a computer with web access:
- Go to the NSC homepage
- Click on the “student email” link
- If you do not know your login information follow the link for NSC students on the same page to set up your account
**Hint, the prefix to your NSC email account will usually be the same as your login name for your Novell or WebCampus accounts.
How do I print?
You must login to the computer terminal you are using (at any NSC campus location) with your Novell username and password. Once logged in you will be able to print provided that you have enough money credited to your account to cover the cost of each print order.
**Please note that being logged into your WebCampus account does not mean you are logged into your Novell printing account, they are two separate actions.
How do I find my Novell username and password?
Your Novell username is the same username as for your WebCampus account and it is also the prefix to your NSC email address (everything prior to the @ symbol). If you do not know this information follow the instructions for obtaining your email address on this sheet, contact the student computing services department (992-2400), or see the library staff for assistance.
The password for your Novell account is your full birth date in the following format: MMDDYYYY
If you have changed your password and forgotten it you must contact the computing support services at 992-2400 to have your password reset.
**please note that if you have changed the password for your WebCampus account this DOES NOT change your password for your Novell account!
I am logged into my Novell account but I still can’t print, what do I do?
See the library staff to check the balance on your printing account. You may need to deposit more money to your account in order to print.
How can I add money to my printing account?
See the library staff. The library only accepts debit (with the Visa/Mastercard symbol) or credit cards as methods of payment. You may add any amount to your account. Sorry, CASH IS NOT ACCEPTED AT EITHER BRANCH LOCATION.
How much does printing and copying cost in the library?
Printing: 5 cents per side (10 cents if double sided)
Copying: 10 cents per side (20 cents if double sided)
**The copy machine requires cash deposit for use. The library does not keep or make change.
I am trying to log into the online databases from home but it won’t let me in, what do I do?
Contact the Library at 992-2800 during regular business hours.
I am trying having trouble using RefWorks from home, what do I do?
You must create a free personal account in RefWorks in order to use their services. If you need to obtain the group user code or need more assistance please contact the Library at 992-2800 during regular business hours.
The Library wants to hear your feedback! Please let us know how we are doing or how we can make our services better for you!
Stop by and ask the staff for a comment card or fill out the electronic library survey found on the desktop of any computer in the library.
