Placement Testing
Nevada State College uses placement testing to place students in the appropriate Math and English courses.
- Students who have taken the ACT or SAT exam may not be required to take NSC’s placement exams. However, before that can be determined, students need to request that their ACT or SAT scores be officially sent to Nevada State College’s Office of Admissions and Orientation.
- Incoming freshmen who have not taken the ACT or SAT will need to schedule an appointment for placement exams prior to registering for courses and meeting with an Academic Advisor.
- Transfer students who have not taken any college level English or Math courses will need to schedule an appointment for placement exams.
It is to each student’s benefit to complete placement testing as soon as possible in order to be properly advised and to be allowed to register for courses. Please note that students will not be allowed to register for Math and English courses until they have submitted their ACT or SAT scores, taken college level Math or English courses or taken Nevada State College’s placement exams.
