LAS VEGAS –Dr. René Cantú Jr., Vice President of Multicultural Affairs and Mr. Robert Alfaro, Area 2 Superintendent, announced the successful funding and launch of “Project Crossroads”, a collaborative partnership between Nevada State College and Area 2 of the Clark County School District. The program, which will be administered at 14 middle schools in the eastern and southeastern portion of the Las Vegas Valley, provides active mentorship and guidance to students who might otherwise not complete middle school and ultimately enter high school. Students in the Crossroads Program will also participate in the NSC Promise Program, a new initiative at NSC in which local role models are paired with middle schools students to encourage high school and college completion. As part of the NSC Promise Program, students who successfully complete high school receive a $500 scholarship to attend Nevada State College upon graduation.
