Parents Corner

Upward Bound values parent and guardian support as it is critical for the success of our students and our program goals. We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to participate and be active in their student’s education. Opportunities to get involved are limitless and have various commitment levels. Parents and Guardians are expected to attend Upward Bound events and attend periodic Parent Advisory Committee meetings.

Upward Bound students come from Basic and Eldorado which are part of the Clark County School District (CCSD). CCSD has given parents and guardians direct access to their child (ren)’s school records. To access the ParentLink, simply enter the login ID and password that have been provided. If you do not have a login ID and password, please contact your child's school.

Successful students have parents and guardians who:

• Encourage their children to develop a reading habit.
• Provide their children with appropriate reading and writing materials.
• Take an interest in their children's schoolwork and activities.
• Designate a workplace for their children
• Communicate with their children's teachers
• Play games that help their children read and practice basic math facts and computations.
• Visit locations such as parks, museums, zoos, colleges and universities, and local landmarks with their children.
• Make learning relevant.
• Talk to and listen to their children every day.
