The Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST or Praxis I) is a basic skills exam required of all education majors, It assesses an individual's knowledge in reading, writing and mathematics. Passing the PPST is a Department of Education requirement for licensure in the State of Nevada. In addition, it is a requirement for program admission and registration into 300 and 400 level courses. New students should take the PPST within their first three semesters at Nevada State College. Transfer students should take the PPST immediately after admission to Nevada State College.
Computer-based testing for the Praxis I is offered continuously throughout the year. You may take the computer-based test only once per calendar month, and no more than six times within a 12-month period. This applies even if you canceled your scores on a test taken previously.
Paper-based tests are offered on fixed dates throughout the year. For paper-based tests, you can register online at http://www.ets.org/praxis/register/ using a credit or debit card.
