HR Policies
HR believes that our policies and procedures set the tone for your employment experience at Nevada State College. NSC’s workforce consists of intelligent, talented, and professional individuals who share a common vision and are dedicated to the success of this institution. The policies that govern your employment should therefore be respectful of your ability to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner.
HR is committed to developing and administering policies that are based on the values of dignity, respect, empowerment, trust, and caring. We will communicate performance and behavioral expectations to employees and supervisors, provide appropriate training, and trust employees to properly execute their duties and responsibilities.
HR trusts and expects all employees to demonstrate sound judgment when making decisions in the workplace. To the extent possible, HR Policies and Procedures are written in a permissive manner that empowers you to conduct yourself within established parameters. HR Policies and Procedures are often governed by federal law, Board of Regents policies, and State of Nevada statutes, those policies may not allow as much latitude
When developing or revising HR Policies and Procedures, HR will request input and feedback from employees, ensuring that we have representation from all levels, categories, and types of positions across campus. This process may include working directly with groups representing specific employees (e.g., Faculty Senate, Classified Employee Council), conducting open forums, and requesting electronic feedback.
As HR Policies and Procedures are implemented and modified, HR will ensure that all employees have access to the documents, and will facilitate their understanding of and adherence to the policies and procedures through training and consultation. This includes revisions to HR Policies and Procedures based on changes in federal law, BOR policies, and State of Nevada statutes.
