Laurie Gascoigne

  • Started at NSC in fall of 2005
  • Became a member of National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) in 2007
  • Made the commute from Pahrump 3 to 5 days a week while maintaining perfect attendance
  • Graduated with a Bachelors degree in August 2008 with a 3.58 GPA.
  • Earned a degree with distinction in Speech Pathology
  • I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to earn a degree in Speech Pathology. Without NSC this would never have been possible
  • It is my goal to earn a Masters degree in Speech Pathology when NSC is approved and accredited through the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • I feel very strongly that I would never have accomplished this dream without the love and support of my wonderful family and friends. Without them this endeavor would never have been possible.
  • NSC has taught me important skills that are required to be a viable asset in the field of Speech Pathology
  • Such skills include intensive instruction in scientific and theoretical principles, speech and language development, anatomy and physiology, speech disorders, language disorders, and assessment, therapy, clinical management of children with speech and language disorders as well as the importance of community involvement and continual education.
  • I feel blessed that I was a part of a small college who truly cared about me as a person
  • I currently work as a Speech Pathologist for Nye County School District in the town of Pahrump.
  • My first year as been challenging however very rewarding
  • My caseload consists of two early childhood programs as well as K-12.
  • The schools I provide services to are JG Johnson Elementary, Beatty Elementary & Middle School, and Beatty High School.
  • To provide services to my students in the North, I travel 1/ ½ hours one way once a week
  • I want to acknowledge my appreciation to my professors at NSC for their dedication and continual support
