About Arts & Sciences

Nevada State College’s School of Liberal Arts & Sciences offers degree programs in the Humanities, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences. With more than 20 majors and minors, Liberal Arts & Sciences (LAS) is the College’s largest school.

LAS is home to NSC’s First-Year Experience program, an optional set of courses for first-year students in any major. With course offerings ranging from the economic and environmental sustainability of Las Vegas, to analyzing social trends and the concept of what it means to be “normal”. The First-Year Experience also emphasizes fundamental writing and thinking skills within the context of current events and issues.

The School operates within the framework of a five-year Strategic Plan developed in 2008. With nine comprehensive initiatives, supporting three overarching goals, the Strategic Plan aims to strengthen the curriculum and quality of instruction in LAS and promote Nevada State College as the premier teaching institution in Southern Nevada.
