Dr. LaBuda has over 29 years of experience in the field of education. He joined Nevada State College in 2004. He has previously served as Vice President of Student Experience and as an Assistant Professor of Education before being named Interim Dean of Education in 2011. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching the EDU 206 Classroom Learning Environment class and coordinating the student teaching program. He has many “stories” to share with students from his experiences.
He began his career as a National Teacher Corps Intern and moved on to teach in Vail, CO, Kona, HI and Las Vegas, NV. He was an elementary and middle school principal for 13 years. He was the 1999 Distinguished Principal of Nevada, represented Nevada at the 2000 National Education Summit and was the principal of Garret Middle School in 2003-4, which was one of the first seven schools in Nevada designated “Exemplary” under NCLB. He also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2007. He was recognized with the Nevada State College iTeach Award for Teaching Excellence in 2010.
Outside of work, his is a dedicated runner, avid golfer, frequent traveler, and has a wonderful family. He claims to be a charter member of the “Life is Good Club”.
