Transfer Applicants

Admission to Nevada State College as a transfer student is based on the evaluation of the student’s academic record. To be a admitted as a transfer student, the student must have earned at least twelve (12) transferrable credits with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.00.

Students are required to submit ALL transcripts of all work completed after high school, regardless of intention to transfer work. All transcripts submitted must be official, meaning they must be received in a sealed envelope, from the issuing institution.

For a preliminary, unofficial evaluation, contact the Transfer Center .

Nevada State College accepts test scores such as Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Progam (CLEP), and DANTES/DSST for college credit (with appropriate scores). To have these test scores evaluated, official score sheets must be submitted to the Office of Admissions.

International transcripts must sent to an evaluating agency prior to submission to Nevada State College. The student must request a course-by-course evaluation from the agency of choice, pay the agency’s required fee, and have the official evaluation sent to Nevada State College. Below are just a few of the possible agencies to use:

Academic preparation:
A student must have a minimum of 12 transferable credits from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. If a student has less than 12 credits completed, the admission will be based on the student’s high school record. Please see the Freshman Applicant page for the requirements.

Transfer credit:
Courses completed at other institutions will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis at the time of admission. Each student will be sent a Degree Audit Reporting System report, indicating the courses transferred and to what requirements they apply, if any.

Military credit:
For students who wish to use military credit towards admission credit and ultimately graduation credit, an official transcript from Army/ACE Registry Transcript SystemCommunity College of the Air Force or Sailor/Marine/ACE Registry Transcript must be sent to Nevada State College Office of Admissions.

CLEP / DANTES exam credit:
The College Level Examination Program provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses. The DANTES/DSST program is an extensive series of examinations in college subjects that are comparable to the final or end-of-course examinations in undergraduate courses. To use either toward college credit at Nevada State College, official test scores and evaluation must be sent from the test center where the tests were taken so that Nevada State College can evaluate which exams have been taken and the credit to be awarded.

Education abroad:
If a student has college or high school education from abroad and is a United States citizen or permanent resident, courses from those institutions can be used toward completion of a degree at Nevada State College. Send official transcripts to an evaluating agency, request a course by course evaluation from the company selected, pay the fee and have the official evaluation sent to Nevada State College.
